PROFESSIONAL AND
SCIENTIFIC GAIT ANALYSIS

GAIT ANALYSIS TECHNOLOGIES

Advanced
Footscan®

For an even more detailed analysis of your foot stability and gait, we use 5m Footscan® plates combined with a 2m force plate. This allows us to measure and analyse both your pressure and force distribution simultaneously, from take-off to landing. We can analyse your foot stability and roll-off at different running speeds both barefoot and with shoes. Based on the results of this analysis, we can give you targeted shoe advice and/or advice on insoles.

possibilities

QUINTIC BIOMECHANICS
VIDEO ANALYSIS

Six high-speed cameras capture your entire movement synchronously from different angles at 125 frames/s. The footage is analysed with Quintic Biomechanics video software. We can play back and analyse the video frame by frame. This allows us to provide immediate feedback on your movements/running posture to you, your trainer, coach, etc. to help you perform better and to stay/get injury free.

Qualisys
running performance

The Qualisys running performance system uses 12 high-speed cameras and 35 reflective markers on your body to record your gait. This automatic tracking system is used worldwide for runners of all levels to achieve better performance and less injuries, and is actually unique in Belgium in this setup. More info

Diers back
and spine scan

This 4D back and spine scan allows us to create a static and dynamic analysis of your complete spine and pelvis. With this radiation-free scan we can quickly and accurately analyse your functional posture. This allows us to measure the curvature of your spine, the position of your pelvis (both tilt and torsion), and, if desired, check for non-structural (functional) scoliosis.

We perform several scans in quick succession, and are able to quickly test, for example, the effect of an elevation. You will immediately receive your results, which you can then discuss further with a doctor, physiotherapist or other medical specialist.

The data on your posture can also provide us with extra information on your gait, which we can then link to one of our other analyses (shoe fitting advice, insoles, running posture, etc.). This allows us to take an even more targeted approach to remedying or avoiding any further injuries. If we suspect a structural leg length discrepancy, this can be measured precisely with the DEXA scanner.

This scan can also be booked separately and costs €35 (booking on hello@runnerslab.be or +32 (0)3 775 22 13 (press ‘2’ in the main menu)). It takes half an hour to perform this scan and discuss the results.

Dexa
scanner

The DEXA scanner uses a limited amount of radiation to perform a complete body composition scan and is used to precisely measure any structural leg length discrepancy. The DEXA scanner cannot be used on pregnant women.

The body composition analysis measures bone density, fat-free mass, fat mass and body fat percentage. The body is made up of different types of fat-free tissue (muscles, bones, organs, etc.) and fatty tissue. This provides you with an accurate picture of your body fat percentage and in which zones it is distributed.

This scan can also be booked separately and costs €35 (booking on the appointment tool, hello@runnerslab.be or +32 (0)3 775 22 13 (press ‘2’ in the main menu)).

To measure leg length discrepancy, both legs are scanned separately and the length of the femur and tibia (upper and lower legs) is measured. If an appreciable difference is measured it may be necessary to compensate for this using particular adjustments to shoes or insoles. These adjustments can be made in our workshop. To decide which elevation should be applied, it is recommended to seek medical advice from your doctor, physiotherapist or other medical specialist. Combined with a Diers back and spine scan, we can also determine the impact of your leg length discrepancy on your overall posture.

This scan can also be booked separately and costs €35 (booking on the appointment tool, hello@runnerslab.be or +32 (0)3 775 22 13 (press ‘2’ in the main menu)). It takes half an hour to perform this scan and discuss the results.

Qualisys motion capture

The Qualisys running performance system uses 12 high-speed cameras and 35 reflective markers on your body to record your gait. This automatic tracking system is used worldwide for runners of all levels to achieve better performance and less injuries, and is actually unique in Belgium in this setup.

For this analysis, you should bring along your running gear, with minimal reflective parts (for men, only shorts or tights, and for ladies a sports top or sports bra).

COMPLETE 360° BODY ANALYSIS

Your complete (360°) gait cycle will be mapped out from head to toe. You will be measured at different running speeds, either barefoot or wearing shoes. An online report will immediately be made with over 20 parameters that can be analysed.

Improve your running technique

The basic idea is to get your body functioning as it is supposed to. This will reduce the risk of injury while improving your running efficiency and ultimately also your performance. Not only will we make a complete inventory of your movements, but we will also offer you a thorough analysis and personalised advice.

DETAILED REPORT

We start off by discussing some important points about your running posture. Afterwards, you will be sent a comprehensive report with advice that you can further develop, possibly together with your trainer, coach, physiotherapist, etc. It’s easy to share the online report with interested parties.
